S. C. HILDRETH AGAIN IN AMERICA. Noted Trainer of Thoroughbreds Will Go to England with His Horses in Midwinter. New York, November 25. S. C. Hililreth, tht? noted American trainer who went to England early in November, returned" yesterday on the Lusitania, accompanied by Mrs. Hildreth and jockey Carroll H. Shilling. Mr. Hildreth denied the report that had gained some circulation here to the effect that he had been refused a license to train in England. "Was such a report published here " he asked. It did not seem to disturb him any. "I wasnt refused a license," said he. "I could not be refused a license because I did not apply for one. All I went over for was to look around. There would be no use In taking out a license now, for it would ex pire at the end of the year. Training licenses iu England begin with the first of the calendar year. I am going back in midwinter some time. I have not decided just when I shall ship the horses that I will train in England for Charles Kohler. There Is no prospect of my going to France until after another season or two anyway. It would be no use to do so except with jumpers. By the rules of the French tracks neither American nor British horses can take part except In special races. The horses have to be bred in France." Mr. Hildreth said ho saw A. J. .Toyncr, Harry Payne Whitneys trainer, at Newmarket, when; most of the prominent trainers in England have headquarters. He spent a day with Joyner. "Trainers at Newmarket have quarters better than some millionaires houses here," said Hildreth. "The trainers make their headquarters at Newmarket and then go out a mile or so to the tracks to train. I think I shall have a private training ground over there. I prefer to le by myself. I have not so lected it yet. I saw four days of racing at Liver pool and one at Derby. They have fine racing over there."
