JUAREZ OFFICIALS ACTIVE JOCKEY J. HOWARD IS RULED .OFF ON THE GROUND OF FRAUD. Suspension Meted Out to Trainer F. E. Baird and Horses He Has Been Training Further Entry of Other Horses Ordered Refused. in Paso, Tex., December 25. With fine -weather uid :i fair card, the largest Sunday crowd since the opening of the Juarez meeting was in attendance yesterday, rayoritos fared badly, not one catching the judges eye. The one mile and a quaratcr race, the second at that distance to he inn this season, was won by Sugar Lump at the generous odds of fifteen to one. Sugar Lump incidentally reduced the track record for the distance to 2:07?. Miami, from the stable of G. II. ICcene, captured the last race on the card heavily backed by Mr. Keeno and a few friends from fifteen to six, by gradually wearing the leader down and winning in a drive. Presiding Steward Charles F. Price and his associates handed out a mling yesterday that on account of the reverail of form in the horse Hey Hindoo, which won the fourth race here last Friday from Thistle Belle. Delaney and John Grillin II. further entry of that horse be refused pending investigation. They also suspended trainer F. K. Baird and the horses Amcricus, Mftizie Girl and General Marchmont. It is the intention of the stew-sirds to restore Hey Hindoo to good standing as soon as George Snyder, the now owner of the horse, obtains another trainer. They also announced that jockey J. Howard had Iteen ruled off the Jockey Club Juarez track on the jrround or fraud. It is well known that Presiding Steward Price does not resort to such drastic measures of ruling anyone off the turf unless he has positive evidences of fraud. Further entry of the horses Pride of Lismore and Goldlinn will bo refused because their owners were f unable to give the stewards satisfactory reasons , Tor wraUhhig out of the race won by Hey Hindoo. Presiding Steward Price handed down more rulings today. Jockeys A. Wrispen and A. Walsh were both warned away from the track for attempted fraud. Judge Price also announced that he had reinstated the horses Hey Hindoo and Amcricus today, Mr. Snyder having secured the services of John Lowe to train them in the future. T. H. Stevens arrived here yesterday on his way to Lciugtou. Ky where he is going to pick up twelve head of yearlings that he will transfer to Coeur dAlene, Idaho. He has purchased two acres adjoining the Idaho track and has erected a cottage and stables. J. T. Ireland came back yesterday from Kentucky, where he went recently in connection with a lawsuit for damages sustained by some of his horses in a railroad accident and in which a verdict of 15,000 was obtained. A cold, raw day greeted the large crowd that gathered this afternoon to witness the third running of the Navidad Handicap. Irish Gentleman won the race from a good band of handicap horses that were dispatched to a perfect break. Kollie Ijvy shot to the front with the rise of the barrier, closely followed by Ilarrigan. She shook him off on the far turn, opened a big gap, and looked all over the likely winner in the stretch. Then Irish Gentleman started to move up rapidly. Hoffman drew his whip and the colt, wearing the leader down, won in a drive. Hound the World, the top weight of the race, ran in a good position in the early stages nnd linished fast in the last eighth. Meadow, the favorite, and the idol of the racing people down here, was unfortunate enough to be kicked in the stifle at the post by Araseo. No doubt this militated against her chances of drawing down the prize. Jockeys Keogh and Hosen were suspended for five days by the starter.
