BROWNLEIGH PARK STABLE FOR 1912. New York, December 25. The Brownloigh Park Stable, quartered for the winter months at Belmont Park in charge of J. Edward Nash, comprises seven horses. The only one of the lot that lias raced is OKccffe, a two-year-old colt by McGce Dorval. The rest are yearlings purchased at the Kentucky Sales at Lexington. When racing was at its height a few-seasons back the horses of the Brownleigh Park Stable were important factors in races on the Hat and through the steeplechase iield. Grant Hugh Browne aimed to have one of the strongest stables in America. He was particularly interested in crosscountry racing. Having watched the notable races of Great Britain that were run under conditions that demanded horses of high caliber, he concluded to make purchases abroad. To this end be imported John M. P., a big bay gelding, which had established a creditable record over hurdles and in the steeplechase iield. John M. P., a son of Brittanic Guiding Star, carried the white and brown silks with distinction in the running of the Whitney Memorial and other cross-country events of importance. On several occasions John M. P. met and defeated the best horses in training. For a steeplechaser he possessed a wonderful burst of speed. In many a trial he covered a mile and a quarter in 2:07 with his weight up. Joseph E. Widener purchased the horse and shipped him to France, where he broke down. Sewell, Theyre Off, King Cobalt, and Beckon were others raced successfully by Mr. Browne. The coming two-year-olds are a choice lot. They were all foaled in the blue grass state and belong to families from which sprang noted racers. It is a rugged collection, and trainer Nash is confident that his charges will win their share of purses during the coming season. The breeding of the youngsters follows: Fly by Night, b. g, by Hastings Flittermouse, bv Rayon dOr brother to Field Mouse, Flamuia and Footlights. Furieuse, b. f, by Ethclbert Ferment, by Octagon. Bay iilly, b3 Filligrane Intermezzo, by Meddler. Bay colt, by Filigrane Short Cake, by Golden Garter. Bay colt, by Filigrane Wailhalla, by Lissak half brother to Vilhalla and Pequoit. Chestnut colt, by McGec Judith, by Julien half brother to Jack Baker and Judith Page.
