CHARLESTON TRACK NEARING COMPLETION. Columbia, S. C, December 25. W. C. Westmoreland was n visitor here this afternoon. He came from Charleston and brought the news that a great force of men were at work on the track now under course of construction in that city. There are already 350 horses on the ground and C50 stalls have ; been completed. Dy Saturday next two hundred more will bo added to this number. There yet remains about 200 yards of filling to be completed, or about 11,000 yards of dirt to be moved. With the ! force of men now at work, the engineer in charge figures on moving about 1.100 yards daily, which means that the plant should be in readiness for the , owning dav, January 10. Francis J. Pons sent word i . over that but for unforeseen happenings the track will be ready on that date. Much interest is lieing taken here in the meeting at Charleston and a nia- ! jority of the stables will ship there next week.
