GOSSIP FROM BLUE GRASS REGION. Lexington, Ky., January 24. — CoL William L. Simmons, one of the old B1 and best known of American turfmen, is ill of pneumonia at his residence In this city. Colonel Simmon* was first prominently Identi-hei! with the trotting turf and was the owner of the famous lcrse George Wilkes siminons. From the trotters be turned t the thoroughbreds and bred s number of good runners, among them being Belle Bramble. J. C. Milam shipped his string of fourteen to Charleston tonight. William Woodard, whose horses went to Charleston with those of V. J. Young, will leave for the Bootb Carolina track tomorrow.
