AS TO INDIANA RACE TRACKS In response to a number of inquiries conceniinjr the project for the revival of racing in northern Indiana within convenient distance of Chicago Dally Racing Form now advises Its readers that for some months past it has been cognizant of tho steps be ¬ ing taken toward the achievement of that end but did not deem It advisable to mention the matter until its accomplishment appeared reasonably certain certainIndiana Indiana men of means and good standing have formed an organization and purchased two tracts of land on which to constnict wellappointed mile race tracks one of which will be at or near Porter iti Porter county Indiana the other at or near Hart dalo In Lake County Indiana Both can be reached within an hour from Chicago with ample trans ¬ portation by the Lake Shore railroad and capital roads for those who may wish to go by motor cars carsIt It is proposed to conduct racing under tbe pro ¬ visions of tlie Seller law which authorizes and limits race meetings of lifteen days prescribing that thirty days must elapse before another moot ¬ ing of fifteen days can bo given over the same track The two tracks mentioned will be conducted by en tirely independent leasing organizations having no connection whatever with each other However as a matter of common sense business and to accom ¬ modate horsemen and the public a fifteen days meeting on one track will probably be followed by another on tho other track thus providing In effect a meeting of thirty days If all goes well it U hoped to begin the first meeting at the Porter track September 1 or as soon as the course can be made ready As a minimum at least thirty days of rac ¬ ing seems assured in the pleasant weather charac ¬ teristic of September and October Hartsdale is to follow the Porter course courseNone None of the men formerly conducting Chicago rac ¬ ing has any connection with this enterprise It is strictly an Indiana affair conducted by Indiana capitalists Racing foundation stock of 500000 is to be sold at par to finance tbe tracks properly O this enough has already been taken to provide Jin mediate necessary working capital capitalRacing Racing is to be conducted on the highest possible plane and to this end it is intended to procure thw services of racing officials of such established repu ¬ tation as to guarantee the Integrity and orderly government of the sport from the outset outsetFurther Further details will be given in ample time to furnish owners and trainers witb full information concerning what is to be expected in a practical racing way
