AN AUSTRALIAN LONG PRICE. The totalizator dividend of 9S33.79 to .." 0 paid at Belmont Park. West Australia, when Misfire won recently, was remarkable, but not by any means a record. The record for that country is .1S4 to 95, which was collected when D. 0. D. won the Hood wood Handicap in South Australia in 18S1. D. O. 1. was by Panic from Flying Doe, and an hour before the Goodwood he appealed iu the Co rinthian Cup, a welter handicap of a mile and a half, for amateur riders, and with 14« pounds But, ran second in a poor field. This gallop evidently improved D. O. D.. for he won Hie Goodwood Haudi-ca| - easily, paying his solitary supporter over N0O to 1. Strange to say. there was auMBl a riot after the race, ill conseijiicnce of D. . D."s number on. the totalizator haying appeared unbacked. It was explained, however, that D. . D.s number IS was the last on the board and. owing to some de feet in the working of the machine, would not register. The officials therefore registered the bet ou No. 10 lustead.
