MONTREAL JOCKEY CLUBS NEW STAKE STAKEMontreal Montreal Que April 21 By announcing the con ¬ ditions for an additional stake to be run at Blue Bonnets In future seasons the Montreal Jockey Club has gone l step farther in the encouragement of the breeding of a better class of thoroughbreds In the Dominion of Canada This stake lias not been con ¬ fined to owners of the Province of Quebec but has been made attractive to owners throughout the Do ¬ minion The conditions of the new feature to be known as the Blue Bonnets Breeders Stake the first running of which will take place during tlie season of 1H1C are liberal and tlie amount of added money along with the subscriptions will make It attractive The first running of this event is for foals of 111 of which there are many already recorded Within the past few weeks close to a dozen eligibles have been foaled in the Province of Quebec while at the Seagram farm at Waterloo the Ilendrie farm at Hamilton and the Brookdale Stud at Barrie there are even more not to say anything of the numerous owners of smaller studs who will also have eligibles Tills stake has an advantage over most breeders stakes as the entry does Hot have to 1m made until the foal has arrived so that an owner has an oppor ¬ tunity of knowing what he is entering enteringTo To keep up the interest in the stake the manage ¬ ment of the Montreal Jockey Club has shown liber ality in announcing that a similar event will be run for threeyearolds during the seasons of 1013 1911 and 115 which will fill up the gap between now and 1JIO The breeders stake will carry 1500 In added money for the initial running while the sub tcriptions will go to the winner Taking this on a basis of titty imtrics and a field of ten to start the stake would be worth over 2000 It will be over the Derby distance of a mile and a half halfEntry Entry blanks will be tent out to all Canadian breeders The conditions of the stake entries for which will close during the spring meeting at Bllu Bonnets from Tuesday June a to Tuesday June 10 inclusive are as follows followsThe The Blue Bonnets Breeders Stake for Canadian bred threeyearolds foals of lOlo By subscription of 5 each the only forfeit if struck out by May 1 1014 and a further subscription of 5 unless struck out by May 1 1015 or 5 additional unless struck out by May 1 1010 Starters to pay S15 additional All subscriptions to tlie winner The Montreal Jockey Club to add 1500 of which 300 to the see ong horse and 200 to tlie third Stakoweight Win ¬ ners of 1000 or of two races to carry three pounds extra of 2000 six pounds extra of 00 nine pounds extra Maidens allowed ten pounds Horses that have started and not been placed allowed three pounds additional One mile and n half halfBy By filing wlthN tlie Montreal Jockey Club an ac cepted transfer of the produce with Its engagement in this stake accompanied with all forfeits to date the original subscriber may be relieved from any lia ¬ bility as to the engagement of the produce The death of the nominator does not render the entry void
