FAVORITES FAIL TO SCORE ALL SIX FIRST CHOICES GO DOWN TO DEFEAT AT DOUGLAS PARK. Flora Fina was well beaten after going the tils t half mile, but continued on gamely and liiiished third. After the finish, she was worked out to the mile and a half ground in preparation for her start in the Louisville Cup. to lie run on Saturday, the closing day of the meeting. She went the mile and a half in 2::!::. The followers of favorites met with a Waterloo this afternoon, not a single first choice managing to score. Tile worst upset came in the closing dasli when Rculnli S. finished in advance of .limmie Gill and Luther. The last named was at odds-on and probably was best in the race, but in going to the first turn lie was caught in a bad jam and almost thrown. He closed a good gap in getting up for third place. L. H. Adair also suffered in this race. After the finish Judge Lriee suspended jockey H. Phillips, rider of .Tiininie GUI, for the rest of the meeting for rough riding tactics. E. It. Bradleys Mae Tart was the surprise of the opening dash when she finished first in advance of Uncle Hart, the favorite. Harry L. and San Vega wcxvmthe- -choices for- thesecond. - The former got k away slowly and Buxtons rushing tactics left San Vega uuprepared to withstand Bolalas final rush, and the latter wou. W. J. Yanfees Oakland was a pronounced choice in the third race, but Celesta beat him handily to the finish. K. It. Bradleys Bac was thought the best of the field of fairly good youngsters starting In the fifth race and ho would have won had Loftus steered him closer to the inner rail on the stretcli turn. The opening he left enabled Belloc to come tliroiigh and win by a length, while Bac just managed to outstny Korfliage for second place. Jockov Skirvin. who had the mount on Little Bean iii the second race, was thrown heavily while in the paddock prior to going to the post. The rider was considerably shaken up by the fall and reunited medical attention. The backers of the winning combination, comprising Bolala and Celesta, had by far the worst of the betting odds when the tickets yielded only Sil.!0. The backers of the three-horse combination, consisting of Sleeth. Belloc and Beulah S. secured a return of SS.30 for their investment. Frank J. Brucn, the capable assistant to John Hach-nieister at Douglas Park .and Latonia. has accepted the tender made him by the Charleston Fair and Racing Association to serve as auditor at the Charleston track during the coming winter. Mr. Brucn is also expected to serve as an advisor to the members of the executive committee, who wil have the management in charge. Jockey J. Hanover will ride for E. B. Parsons next winter."
