THE RUMP, after being saved for five-eighths, moved up with a rush while rounding the far turn and took a good lead, but tired after passing JOHN REARDON and had to be hard ridden to withstand the latters challenge. JOHN REARDON was made too much use of In pacemaking for the first half and tired, but responded gamely to punishment and almost got up to win. SPELLBOUND quit In the last quarter.
