TWO RACES DECLARED OFF JUAREZ TRACK IN EXTREMELY HEAVY CONDITION FOLLOWING RAIN OF MONDAY. Storm Passes and Race-Goeis Are Again Favored with Bright, Clear Weather Salesia Repeats Her Soft Track Success of Last Season. Kl Paso, Tex., December 15. Owing to the heavy rains of last night, two of the races carded to lie run at Juarez today were declared off, the fourth and the sixth being the races affected. Two all-aged dashes at live-eighths of a mile were substituted. lirlght. clear skies greeted the followers of the sport this afternoon, but the track was wet and holding. Only horses that were rugged or mud l miners of superior ability could run well in the kind of going that prevailed. Salesia was made u short-odds choice in the fifth on account of the remarkable races she ran in similar gojng here last season. She disposed of her opposition with the utmost ease. Two favorites scored and the other nurses were won by horses that showed a liking for the same kind of going last season. Walter S. Heath, Peter Smith and Capt. B. C. Itiinbiiry were among the arrivals today. The first named two came from California, their stables having preceded them by about a week. Captain Buuhiiiy had quite an experience in reaching here. He left his ranch at Kerrville, Tex., with live horses, and was on the road over seven days, the delay living caused by the Hoods in the eastern 7iart of the state. Hoy Ollutt resumed booking today. It. C. Benson, trainer for James Butler, departed for Xew York this morning to resume the training of the Butler yearlings that were left in the east.
