Hayes acquired prominence because in its membership was included the Kentucky Derby winner. I.uiierall. This colt ran some good races subsequent to the Derby, but prior to and after the decision of that event he also recorded a nuuilior of comparatively bad performances In a racing way. Still bis success in the Kentucky Derby was achieved In a high-class race and In the fashion of a really good race horse and it may be that he will rank high anil race more consistently next year. Mr. Hayes only other considerable winner was his two-year-old lilly, Minda. which, in view of her racing afterwards, evidently overraced herself when she won the Clipsetta Stakes at Latonia.
