MARY EMILY, close up from the start, seemed to tire on the last turn, then came again with a rush right at the end. LABOLD ran well, but tired after forcing the pace to the stretch. GALLEY SLAVE made a challenge in the stretch, then fell to the rear. BASHFUL BETTIE made the pace to the last eighth and quit badly. PAY STREAK was saved behind the leaders in the early running and, coming to the outside in the stretch, wore FORT SUMTER down and won in the last stride, of a hard drive. FORT SUMTER ran an extra good race and succumbed right at the end. MACK B. EUBANKS tired, after making the pace until a sixteenth out. PARLOR BOY ran next to the rail and was repeatedly interfered with, being forced to lie taken un several times during the running. Overweights Barsac, 2 iounds. The latter closed a big gap and made a fast finish. KILTIE raced forwardly throughout. STEVESTA closed a big gap in the last quarter. MUY BUENA was next to the rail and was forced to fall back several times during the running. COLONEL McDOUGALL ran in closest pursuit to the stretch and tiled. DEFY moved into hceond place at the half mile ground and was called on for a further effort on the lower turn, but could not cut down the long lead of the winner. SIR JOHN ran well and easily held the others safe for third place. RAKE finished well. WISE MASON showed early speed, but failed to stay. Overweights Wise Mason, 3 founds.
