FEENEY COMES TO FRONT PROMISING APPRENTICE PILOTS TWO OF HIS MOUNTS TO VICTORY AT JUAREZ. Boy Is Locked Upon as Find of the Season from Saddle Standpoint Redpath Only Winning Favorite. LI Paso, Tex., December 20. A surprisingly large crowd was on hand today at Juarez considering that following a holiday the attendance generally falls off. It was ladies day and good weather helped to attract. Only one favorite was fortunate enough to win and it was due principally to the hustling ride that jockey Taplin gave Itedpath that the followers of favorites escaped utter rout. The colt wanted to quit In the stretch, but Taplin persistently kept at him with his whip and Snail v landed him a winner, a scant half length in advance of Bob Hensley. Long shots all but swept the card and the layer recouped some of the losses they had sustained during the past fortnight. Henry Walbauk proved a rank disappointment in the final race at one mile. Neylon worked hard on him, but he failed to respond with his usual vim iu the stretch and finished a beaten-off last. It. Feeney was the only jockey to ride two winners during the afternoon. Feeney is showing much promise as a rider. He has a good seat and a nice pair of hands and be also rides intelligently. He never gets flustered and it is probable that he will turn out to be the best jockey development of the meeting. Jockeys Gross and J. Howard were suspended for ten days by starter Cassidy for disobedience at the post. Nannie McDeo, winner of the sixth race, was bid up from 00 to 00 by John Humbrecht, but was retained by Keiley and Delaney.
