THREE MORE FOR TALBOTT DENVER HORSEMAN TAKES HALF OF CHARLESTON CARD FOR SECOND TIME IN WEEK. Feather Duster, Monocacy and Frank Hudson Successful Talbott Trio, Were Days Winning Favorites at Palmetto Park. Charleston, S. C, December 27. The J. O. Talbott establishment figured prominently In the Palmetto Park racing again today when three of its representatives duplicated its feat of a few days ago by winning half of the card of six races. Each of the Talbott trio of winners today was favored in the speculation and they were the ouly choices of the atternoon to score. The stables success came in successive races and began when Feather Dnster won the. handicap at one mile and 70 yards. Monocacy followed by winning the fifth race and Frank Hudson took the closing dash. Feather Duster and Monocacy were entrusted to the guidance of Buxton, while McTaggart piloted the final winner. An improvement In weather and track conditions found a rcfiection in a big attendance and brisk speculation. Fourteen layers operating at top speed could hardly keep up with the wants of those speculatively inclined. Several upsets that attended the opening dashes enabled the layers to book a profit that about balanced the losses caused by the success of the Talbott horses. The victory of Stcalaway in the opening race was unexpected and marked the longest priced winner of the meeting up to date. The gelding showed a vastly improved performance as compared with a preceding start. Trade Mark was held to be much the best in the second race, but she failed to get any part of the purse, Miss Gayle arid Bulgarian fighting it out at the end. Viley ran right back to bis former good performance and took the third race. The finish in this race was spectacular, six of the starters being separated by heads or noses at the end of the six-furlongs journey. Feather Duster had to contest every inch of the route to win his race, but Monocacy had a comparatively easy time of It, as did Frank Hudson. W. B. demons, an eastern turf writer, was among todays arrivals from New York.. He reports that a large number of racing devotees are awaiting the passing of the holidays before comiiig here. Chuckles, which was claimed out Of the fifth race yesterday by W. A. Burttschell. was sold today to W. Shields, acting for P. Gallagher. Jockey Obert was given a twenty-days suspension after the fourth race by starUr Milton for insubordination while at the post- and impudence after the race. It Is the second suspension indicted by the starter in 204 days that he has presided at the starting barrier. W. Shields left tonight for Philadelphia, whither he was called on account of illness in his family. Dr. Waldo Briggs came out of his race of yesterday decidedly lame. It Is feared that he has ruptured one of the tendons In the off hind leg. At all events it will be a couple of weeks before he faces the barrier again.
