NEW APPRENTICE RULE IN KENTUCKY. Lexington, Ky.. December 27. The only business of importance aside from the approval of the biennial report at the meeting of the Kentucky State Racing Commission this week, was the adoption of an amendment to Rule 107-K. by which an apprentice jockey will be given a five-pound allowance iu selling races regardless of whose horse he rides. Heretofore this allowance has been given only where the rider had the mount on the horse of his contract employer. The amendment is as follows: "A boy who has of his own free will. witli the consent of his pareuts, parent or guardian,, bound himself as an apprentice to any owner or trainer for a term of not less than three years, by written, contract, a certified copy of which shall be lodged with the Kentucky State Racing Commission, may claim a five-pound allowance in all selling races during the year for which his license has been granted, and during a period of one year from the date he rode bis first winner. Allowance under this rule must Ik? claimed at time of entry."
