ENCOURAGING HORSE BREEDING IN BRITAIN. King George lias offered a gold challenge cup, value ,500, for competition by thoroughbred stallions at the show which is to he held at the Agricultural Hall. London. March 10. 11 and 12. The Board of Agriculture and Fisheries offers fifty Kings Premiums for award to thoroughbred stallions not under four or over twenty years old, to travel prescribed districts in England and Wales. The average value of a premium is ,000, and in addition a service fee- of 0 a mare average number 05 is chargeable to the owner making the average earnings per stallion up to ,000, but as much as ,000 can be earned, the loard paying fees in respect, of,-but not exceeding 90 mares.
