THE TOTALIZATOR IN INDIA. In India some owners and a section or the press are still opposed to the totalizator, and ir the "books" are not reinstated in Bombay it will not be for lack of advocacy of their cause. However, as is custonary wherever the. machine Is used, the prize money at Bombav meetings is already on the up-grade. Over 5,000 more is being distributed for the coming big meeting than at last years corresponding fixture, the value of the Grand Western Handicap having advanced from just over ,500 to slightly .more than ,000: the Bombay City Plate from ,500 to 1914.sh,005; the Bvculla Club Cup from ,435 to ,5S0. and the Turf Club Cup and the Mansfield Cup from ,710 to ,280 each, while a new race, the Willlngdon Plate, carries ,000. If the nrlze money continues to increase in the same ratio for another three or Tour years. It is more than likely that even those Bombay owners now opposed to the machine will have something to sav In Its favor. Sydney Referee,
