CAXXELL was away forward J v and, passing JEZAIL after going a half mile, took a good lead and, under hard urging, hold WATER LAD safe in the final sixteenth. WATER LAD ran a good race and but for being in close quarters through the last eighth, probably would have won. CARBURETER suffered from interference soon after the start and had a rough race, but tinislied fast and gamely. JEZAIL -i t the early pace and tired badly in the stretch. DISCOVERY followed DOUBLE FIVE closelv until straightened away in the stretch, where he moved up :;st and drew out decisively in the last sixteenth. DOUBLE FIVE showed the most early speed, but tired "tier going a half mile in the lead. MAMA JOHNSON closed a good gap in the stretch after overcoming early interference. STUCCO set the pace to the last turn and quit badly in the stretch. GERRARD tired after going a good three-quarters. PROSPECT was caught in a jam at the start and tired alter closing a gap.
