LEMON JOE began slowly, but closed a gap steadily and, finishing with a rush, wore VELIE FORTY down and won drawing clear. VELIE FORTY showed speed in the going and led into the stretch, hut tired in the final drive. FRAZZLE made up ground and finished fast. IDA LAVINIA ran well to the stretch and tired badly in the final eighth. NAPA NICK acted badly at the barrier and. after causing a long delay, set the early pace, but tired and quit. Won easily; second and thud drivnu, .11 ST RED was practicallv left, but raced into second place in the first quarter and, after being saved to the stretch, passed VESTED RIGHTS and won in a canter. VESTED RIGHTS heat the gate and set the pace lo the stretch, but tired badly in the closing strides. JOHN REARDON easily outstayed BON XL CHANCE for third place, but both were beaten off. The latter raced JEWEL OF ASIA into defeat and made a resolute finish. JEWEL OF ASIA ran well for a half mile and quit badly.
