THE BUSYBODY IN WLNNING FORM. Recent Arrivals from the Far West Accounts For Principal Race at Bowie. Baltimore. Md., October 3. Large and well-balanced fields faced the starter at Bowie this afternoon and the racing was keenly contested throughout. No special feature was carded, but a handicap for three-year-olds and upwards under selling conditions attracted considerable interest. The wlu-ner turned up in Mrs. J. D. MIsicks Meddler mare. The Busybody, witli Confido second and Little England third. The winner made all the pace and went on gamely under punishment when Confido moved up on the outside of her at the head of the stretcli. She went almost to the outside fence in making the turn, carried the contender with her, and lasted to score by a short neck. Numerous new arrivals of horses were recorded, among them being the strings of W. L. Oliver, L. Carey, W. Shields and several others. Quite a sensation was caused when it was announced that five well-known riders were refused permission to accept mounts for the remainder of the meeting by Presiding Judge Murphy. It was also stated that the boys were warned away from the track. The live are J. Dreyer, H. Wolfe. P. Ford, J. Dennisou and J. Rooney. Jockey Cummings was suspended for four days by the stewards yesterday, not Prendergast, as previously stated. Jockey G. Corey was suspended for the remainder of the meeting by starter Dade, this afternoon. Among the numerous new arrivals this afternoon were II. D. Brown, Gus Muller, Al Koenigsberg, ike Hackelburg and others. Mr. Muller, representing the Charleston Fair and Racing Association, whs closeted with Racing Secretary Joseph McLennan for quite a long time in reference to the latter accepting a similar position at Charleston the coming winter. He aiso stated that definite announcement of the racing plans would be made during the coining week. Eighteen layers were in line this afternoon, among the new ones to cut in beiug G. Cpckerill, W. Dunn. W. Gibson, A. Schlessinger, S. Bradley and W. Beverley. Speculation throughout the day was brisk, the public getting the better of the argument. .
