NOTES OF THE TURF. The mare Onrico by Sir Dixon Donna Rica, has gone to the stud at 15. A. Jones breeding farm iu Missouri under an arrangement by which I. Striker, her former owner, is to get her first foal. J. L. Coyle has purchased Star and Garter from X. B. Davis, and the horse will be develoed into a juniper. Mr. Davis reports the deatli of Sldon, a five-year-old son of Solitaire II and Cattle Kate. John M. Howard, well known about the race tracks, and formerly connected with S. C. Hildreths stable, has been spending a few days in Chicago. Mr. Howard was stricken with paralysis about a year ago. but being a man of strong physique and great courage, he has made a game tight -and with the help of a cane gets along well. William Ryan, well-known turf accountant, who spent the past season investigating racing conditions abroad, iu discussing the English system of weekly settlements between layers and the public, recently remarked that an Unglish sportsmans word is his bond, and that the same condition prevails throughout Canada, as on the vast amount of business transacted for Canadians in past years, he has never had one fail to meet his obligations promptly.
