Runs Distance in :59 and Wins by Half a Dozen Lengths with His Jockey Pulling Up H. C, Hallenbeck Wins Race and Loses Horse. Baltimore, Md., October 20. II. C. nallcnbeck won a race this afternoon and lost a horse when AAorking Lad accounted for the selling handicap, at one mile and a sixteenth, which was the feature of the afternoons card. The son of Yorkshire Hoy was securely pocketed during the early part of the race and Turner had him first on the inside, then on the outside, again on tlie inside and finally had to go to the outside again to win from Thornhill and Spearhead. Two and one-fifth seconds were knocked off the five-furlong track record when He Will, owned and trained bv Iouis Feustel, formerly trainer for August Belmont, took the opener for two-year-olds. He AAill outbroke and outran his company alt the war, covered the five furlongs in :59, and won by half a dozen lengths with ids jockey pulling up. Harry Pavne Whitneys Slumber II., by Hamburg Forget, which raced abroad, was returned winner of the six furlong handicap. It was the first victory of Slumber II. in this country. Following is a list of the horses that Charles Boots turned over to Andrew Blakeley: Lady In-stellator, Conquestador, Ainctellator, Mortgyle and Borgond. These, with the remainder of the Blakeley string, will be raced at Charleston and Havana. The Boots lot are all maiden-five and six-year-olds. AVilljam N. Northey. secretary and treasurer of the Montreal Jockey Club, was a visitor at Laurel this afternoon. He is here inspecting the mutuel plant and before his return to Montreal he will look over the plants at Latonia and Pimlico. AVork of installing the mutuels at Blue Bonnets is already under vyay. Joseph .McLennan was at the course today. He distributed among tlie horsemen stake blanks for the Charleston meeting and reported much interest in the meeting among race followers. He predicts that the meeting at Palmetto Park this winter wi!I excel previous meetings held there.
