NOTES OF THE TURF. Joseph A. Murphy is on his way home to St. Louis from the east, where he went in the interest of the New Orleans meeting. Mose Goldblatt was .at New Orleans a day or two ago on his way from Kentucky to Juarez and told he promoters of the proposed winter meeting at the Fair Grouuds that the eyes of the turf world were fixed upon the movement to revive racing in the Crescent City. Mrs. Nellie Cheatham, of 5 Norfolk St., Tulsa, Okla., is anxious to know the address or whereabouts of Frank or "Pat" OConnor, her brother, who left home as a boy eighteen years ago, with a rncing stable, and has been with races horses in this country and France ever since. , Peter A. B. Widener of Philadelphia, once a leader in the world of finance, yesterday resigned from the boards or directors of the Reading railway, the Reading Coal and Iron company, and the Reading company, the latter a holding corporation. He was succeeded by his son, Joseph E. Widener. who is well known on the turr as the owner of some successful steeplechasers. The elder Widener recently celebrated his SOth birthday.
