ASSOCIATION IS FINED 00. Vancouver. B. C. November 27. The British Columbia Thoroughbred Association, which last summer conducted a long race meeting at Minbru Park, was fined five hundred dollars for having conducted a common gaming house at the race track. The defense failed to prove to the satisfaction of a jury that the parl-mutuel method of belling exempted the trade from the provisions of the Miller law. which limits meetings at which betting Is permitted to two weeks of seven day. .each annually. President Springer and Secretary Lindsay have yet to be personally tried for conducting a gambling house.
