A. B. SPRECKELS BUYS NEW STALLION. San Francisco, Cal., November 27. Adolpli B. Sprcckels. millionaire capitalist of this city, has ordered the building of additional stables and paddocks and the carrying out of other improvements at Napa Stock Farm, his nursery for thoroughbred horses, at Napa, with the Idea of Increasing ilie scope of his already noted establishment nud; making of it one of the foremost In the country. He has just purchased the good stalion, SalvatloUj from Lawrence and Comstock and will give hm every chance by mating him with some of his choicest mares. Mr. Spreckels lias faith , In the eventual rehabilitation of -racing" tlmwgfcotrt the-Hength and breadth of America and is proceeding with that idea in view. Throughout the depression from which the American turf is now emerging he has kept up his breeding operations and lias found an outlet for the produce of Napa Stock Farm by tirst racing and then selling his young horses after they have shown what they are capable of doing. The same pjnn Is being followed this fall. C. Wi Carroll, the Spreckels trainer, has just gone to Juarez with twenty-two of the grandest looking yearlings that ever left California. Carroll has them in more forward condition than any previous lot shipped to Juarez. They are nearly all ready for racing and some of them have shown dazzling speed in private trials. Practically all have worked quarters faster than 24. The bay colt by Dr. Leggo Break oDay has a qnarter in 23 to his credit, and the chestnut filly by Dr. Leggo Carnation II. showed a quarter In 23.. Possibly the best looking of the lot are those out of Sevens, Pourquoi, Handsome Flbrry and Alma Dale. The Spreckels stable will have the benefit of the services of jockeys J. Metcalf r.nd R. Carter.
