; : : THIS YEARS RECORD OF AUGUST BELMONTS STABLE : 4 All the wizardry of Sam Hildreth as a trainer could not give the resected chairman of the Jockey Club more than an average measure of success In the racing of this year. The good horse, Bock View, could be raced but a few times and the stable was deficient hi good two-year-olds. In fact, did not possess one. I!oek View is such an excellent racer that had he been sound be must surely have won his share of his many engagements, but he cou!d not be started again after being beaten a head ami a neck by Buckhorn and Buskin in the Brooklj-n Handicap, at Aqueduct. June 23. It was thus left to the three-year-olds, Stromboli and Flittcrgoid, to do the greater part of the stables money earning. Both are above the average and raced well throughout .the year. Hawthorns brother, Thornhil!. was not their equal, but at that 1.6 was an unlucky cot to a singular degree, as the fact that he ran second in eleven races, attests. The it sources of the Nurscry Stud are so great that it will be a strange thing if Mr. Belmont is not represented lu our racing by good two-year-olds next year, being now debarred from sending any to France.
