NEW YORK RACING COMMISSIONS REPORT REPORTThe The annual report of the New York State Kacing Commission recently submitted to the legislature says saysRacing Racing was had during the year under our licenses on 100 days as against sixtyseven days in the year 191 The moneys distributed in stakes and purses at these several meetings in HIM amounted to upward of the sum of 425000 The racing season on the Hat closed Scptemlicr IT Three days racing was given at the State Fair at Syracuse early iu September No license from this Commission was required tinder tlie statute for racing at the State Fair FairIt It is gratifying to note that thoroughbred racing in New York is steadily improving In the years 1I1 and 1912 the racing associations closed their gates following the legislation of 1910 in tin year 101 racing was resumed and during the past year the operations were so substantially expanded as to indicate that the State of New York may again assume the tirst place in thoroughbred racing within the United States in the near future The racing in 1914 was of better quality and the at ¬ tendance was hotter than during the preceding year yearThe The breeding and developing of highclass horses is of special importance at this time and it is beyond dispute that racing is a great factor in reaching that result We sincerely hope that the patronage of the public will so increase as to enable the associations to reestablish the great stakes that were offered prior to the year 1910 1910There There was no legislation enacted during the year Illl in respect to the racing law No complaints were received by the commission in respect of viola ¬ tions of the nenal law regarding gambling or NK I selling and so far as is known to the commission there were no convictions by the courts for any offences against those statutes upon the grounds of any licensed race track
