. j MUCH ACTIVITY AT NEW ORLEANS. New Orleans, La., November 20. — Arrivals of horsemen during the week were irontinuous and included several of the more pretentious racing strings expected to figure prominently during the fifty-six days of racing here. From Deiiison, Texas, came the fourteen horses owned by R. L. Blackford, a prominent banker, who finds diversion and pleasure in the sport. Some useful horses were in his consignment. J. F. Gaffuey brought a dozen that he will look after. In the hand were Star oRyan. Transport. Transportation, Orange, Prospect. Tiusman. Daisy Miekle, Dengro, Africa Beau and Ijidy Powers. This consignment came from Kentucky. Others to arrive from the same imint were J. J. Markleln, C. B. Reed, G. H. Marlman and F. Gering. The jockey colony received an addition in Mack Garner, who heads the list of this years riders. He will pilot the horses owned by R. L. Baker, to whom he has contracted to Tide during the New-Orleans meeting. The eastern invasion will liegin early next week when the extensive band of Capt. Thomas Clyde, in charge of trainer A. G. Weston, arrive. According to a canvas of Joseph A. Murphy and Secretary Joe McLennan. :.14 horses are the lowest number to be shipped from the Maryland tracks. The leading owners and the number of representatives they will have are: G. A. Cochran ll : II. O. Comstock 16: Eniil Herz 14; William Walker 12; Sam Louis. R. T. Wilson. P. Sheridan, James Mac-Manus aud Dr. J. S. Tyree. 10 each. According to advices there will be an abundance of riders, comprising the best in the country. Several likely apprentices will also be available. The stabling problem is beginning to adjust itself satisfactorily and space will be to hand for Meat 750 horses. E. W. Moore suffered the loss of his veteran racer. Joe Stein, which died yesterday as a result of an aggravated MM of lung fever. Frank J. Bruen and his wife, Frank Holder and M. J. Shannon departed this morning for Havana. Mr. Brnen will serve as the auditor at the Cuban track and predicts a highly successful meeting there.
