November 20. — Mr. William Northev, the seeretarv of the Montreal Jockey Club. has tieen visiting Toronto and Hamilton for the purpose of inspecting the grandstands at Woodbine aud the Hamilton Jockey Club. The Blue Bonnets stand was destroved bv fire about twenty-four hours I before the opening of the autumn meeting in Sep- tember, and is to be replaced by a liner and more ■ commodious structure, which will be ready for the spring meeting next June. He said that the new stand, to occupy the same si to as the old. would provide eighty seats more than double the accommodation in the former build- ing. It will be absolutely fireproof. The wreckers 1 are at work tearing the ruins down and cutting the twisted steel into four-foot lengths, as the remains are nothing but scrap. Some work will 1 be done this fall, and everything will be ready to 1 rush the new stand up in the cpriog.
