As a field of racing the state of Maryland played an important part in the turf operations of 1915, with the sitort maintained up to its usual high standard of excellence. Its product in money to owners B represented a considerable gain over that of 1914, due in the main to the purses offered at the new Bowie track. At Laurel and Havre de Grace there was a slight falling off from the previous year, but a gain at Pimlico was sufficient to offset this. The minor tracks showed a decrease in all of 8,905, which makes the combined showing of all the tracks for the year all the more creditable. It is understood that the big tracks reaped a satisfactory profit, so, unless hostile legislation intervenes, it is within reason to expect the Maryland field to return an increased distribution among the winning horsemen in the course of the coining year. So far Bowie racing has only been for overnight purses, but the track has become so firmly established in popular favor and throve so exceedingly that it is in that range of probabilities that a program of stake races will be provided for its 1910 meetings, although no announcement to that effect has a! been made. n Complete statistics of the years operations, a comparison with preceding years since and including a 1910 and other items of interest are included in the following tables: ■ t 58 9 * * 3 3 3 3 3 T T3 g os ,-3 ©o wo o-S- ►*— K — o2 p~: »2. -o C «* *» S "* S Ob Oy a" J t £ °» Os _s 2.D Track and Meeting. 5 " " H 1 1 £ g •§ W g* B gB H f si |* : m : 1 :? s j 3 i i sgj ■ s j •» • • • ■ • * • s s » -„ fj Laurel 2B 156 142 242 08,885 50 48 58 13 17 .32 B Pimlico Spring Meeting 15 105 108 397 61,205 47 23 35 16 7 .45 Fimlico Fall Meeting 11 78 119 172 58,669 25 20 33 4 7 .32 I Havre de Grace Fall Meeting 14 87 94 i70 51,600 35 20 32 6 10 .40 t Havre de Grace Spring Meeting 14 87 102 172 49,980 37 20 30 12 7 .43 Bowie Fall Meeting 15 101 124 179 47,760 43 15 43 7 7 .43 ■ Bowie Spring Meeting 11 71 91 122 29,500 30 7 34 8 4 .42 « Marlboro 5 42 56 82 10,600 17 8 17 2 7 .40 ■ Electric Park 5 30 44 63 7,650 13 8 9 1 4 .43 b Prospect Park 5 30 42 60 7,125 12 11 7 4 4 .40 Timonium 5 27 38 53 5,400 13 8 6 6 5 .48 ■ Totals and Grand Percentage 126 814 38,374 322 188 304 79 79 .40 £ The following tabulation shows the amounts distributed by the various organizations from 1910 to 1915, a inclusive : Organizations. 1910. 1911. 1912. 1913. 1914. 1915.
