CHANGES IN EASTERN RACING DATES. With Denning n thing of the past the Bowie course has fallen heir to its place iu the eastern circuit, and it is :i track that is well calculated to take the place of the ..Id Washington Jockey Club. Last year Bowie opened April 1 and James F. OHara and his associates will endeavor to obtain the Blan dates this year, but it is just possible that there will be a material revision of the racing schedule for Maryland this year. This Change will be necessary if. as it appears to be pretty well understood, the New York season will have an earlier opening. The Maryland courses are entitled t.. every consideration from the Jockey Club, but of canine with the greatly increased interest in the s| ort May 1 would be a more appropriate New York opening date than May 20, the 1915 opening date. The question of racing dates will shortly come up for consideration, and it is probable! that be-f-.ro many days there will be a definite announcement of just what is to be had in a racing way about New York. The circuit for the year will be much the same as that of 1915, except that Janus Butlers Empire City course will run off its dates on its own track instead of splitting them up between Belmont Park and Aqueduct. Most elaborate plans have been made for various improvements to the Empire City track, and when they are completed it will be a delightful racing ground. The logical dates for the track will come in July, or just liefore the Saratoga season. That has been the place occupied by the Umpire City-Racing Association ever since it was admitted into the fold of the Joe-key Club.
