NEW ORLEANS TRACK CAPACITY TAXED. Indolence Finishes First at Last — Jockey J. Hanover . Awarded Six Days Suspension. New Orleans. La.. January 25. — All attendance ; records for the fair Oroiiuds were shattered this afternoon, the occasion being ladies day. The feminine contingent occupied every available inch of space in the huge grandstand and its approaches. In the thronjr were many first-time visitors to a racing course and they enjoyed the sport in enthusiastic fashion. The card was made up of races at one mile and over, as Is customary here on all ladies days. With the exception of the fourth and fifth races, horses of poor caliber were engaged, but they furnished a right enjoyable brand of sport. The handicap resulted in the lirst win for Indolence at the meeting. This consistent gelding heretofore has been the runner up in all the races in which he ran at this track this winter. He had to be strongly urged today to dispose of Dr. Ijtrrick. Jockey J. Hanover was added to the list of suspended riders during the afternoon. Judge Murphy suspended him for six days for cutting across in front more sharply than was necessary while going to the first turn. Jockey M. Garner waa taken suddenly ill after dismounting from Kmclet in the second race and had to cancel his remaining engagements. J. T. Looney concluded arrangements today far the transfer of jockey Medians can tract and that rider will guide his borsea this year. J. o. Ixecne. E. Tichenor and several others ar-rtved today from Havana and will remain for several days. The first-named is returning to Kentucky. frank Murphy did not go to Tijuana as he intended, the postponement there deterring him.
