THRONGED TO THE GATES NEW ORLEANS ACCOMMODATIONS TAXED TO THE CAPACITY OF THE TRACK. Dr. Larrick Defeats Lahore and Dick Williams in the Main Race of the Day — Guide Post Wins Again. New Orleans. I.n.. February 15.— Never before in die history of New Orleans racing has tile Fair Grounds been called on to entertain ;-. crowd of Midi magnitude ;iS this afternoon, the occasion being the next to tlie last ladies day for this meeting. Kvery available in h of space in the ■aastre grandstand was occupied and it was impossible to move about easily, so dense was the crowd. The lawns, like the grandstand, were jammed while the races were run and few in the big crowd wen-able to witness the racing clearly. Hie clubhouse was likewise tilled to capacity. The s|H»r! was interesting and hugely enjoyed, particularly by the many lirst -time and occasional visitors. An order for the delivery of the horse Monsieur lerci. claimed from the closing race yesterday by IV. Phillips, was promptly honored today by trainer O. 1. llumc. when hi- was informed that unless lie complied with the order, the horse and himself would be ruled off tlie turf. Trainer Hume refused to surrender the horse last night after W. Phillips bad claimed him and that led to a wild report that the liorsi- was suspected of being a ringer. Such was not the case, for Charles E. Row e. who trained the horse when he belonged to Otto Stifcl. properly identilied him ln-fore he was allowed to race. Todays arrivals indlndcd Jeffers ui Livingston. .Mr. Livingston will remain here for some time to enjoy bis favorite pastime. Joseph L Martin will depart tonignt for Hot Springs and will return here later. Harry Morris-sey will likelv be named to do the starting at Hot Springs. The mile handicap was contested br some of the better grade of horses at the track and furnished a rattling good race, in which Dr. Larrick scored over Lahore, with Dick Williams third. Lahore and Dick Williams should have finished in front of the winner, but Garner outgeneraled Lilley and the diminutive Judy. Rev Or k wood won the lirst pane for Andy Blake-ley at this meeting when he beat the others in the opener. Mary Warren also broke out of the non-winning las- ,-,t this meeting when she accounted for the second race. Kelsetta also was a lirst-time winner here.
