HORSES IN THE KENTUCKY HANDICAP THIS YEAR AND THEIR RECORDS IN LAST YEARS RACING + «+ It is a rare band of extremely speedy horses that has been nominated to try conclusions in the forthcoming Kentucky Handicap. It is something in the way of a reflection on the rich racing organizations of the east that none of them offers a handicap approximating the Kentucky Hanelicap in value, or a sweepstakes for three-year-olds anyway near as valuable as the Kentucky and Latonia Dcrbys. Kentuckys reward in the matter is that eastern owners feel that they cannot afford to neglect any chance to win such rich and scarce events, hence the entry of practically all of the stars of eastern racing ami the attractive addition of an inter-sectional flavor of high interest. The eastern horse. Borrow, won this race last year anil it will not be for lack of trying if an eastern owner does not also carry off the honors and spoils of Douglas Parks hcaelliner this year. If course the assignment of weights is the factor of prime importance, but in the meantime one cannot overlook the fact that with Borrow, Regret, Dominant. Thunderer. Slipshod. Hreimei. Lena Misha. Obi Koenig. Boots, Star Hawk. Koamer. ISuskin anil Skccr Face nominated, the east has a contingent formidable alike in number and high quality. Be— er was a badly beaten horse when Borrow won last spring, but there is more than one side to Boomer. There is no doubt that, probably because overhurriid in training, he was then by no means the peerless Boomer of later on in the year. Because he was not lit last year it does not follow that he will not be tit this ye-ar anil if he is — well, the horse that biats him. high weight or low weight, will have done some sure enough racing.
