KENTUCKY BREEDERS RECOMMENDATIONS. Suggest Provision of longer Distance Racing, Increased Purses and Heavier Weight Scale. Lexington. Ky.. March 23. — At a meeting of breeders of thoroughbred horses held here today at tin Phoenix hotel. 11 solutions were adopted as to longer distance racing, larger purses and raising of Weights. A. It. Hancock of Bourbon county, as chairman, presided and a committee composed f Hal Price Headley, secretary, o. 11. Cbenault, Milton Xoung, Harvey Myers, Matt I. Winn. John Hachmeister, ti. N." Wilson and A. It. Callaher were selected as an executive committee. The- resolutions adopted were- as follows: id til.- members of the Kentucky state Baring Commission : "The- undersigned committee appointed by your honorable body to recommend for jmir Consideration suitable rules providing for an Increase in th length of races to be- run on the Kentucky tracks under your jurisdiction respectfully recommend: "First There shall not I Beted more- than two races on the program of any day for two-year-olds. "Second That there shall not be ofTered on the program of any day more than two races for three-year-olds and upward of le-ss than a mile. •Third — That tin- remainder of the dailv program, exclusive of stake eviiits. shall be- for races of cine mile or over, one- of which races shall be- of a mil.- and one-eighth or over, other than selling r.ice-s. with not less than SSiMi added moiie-y. except that this provision as to added money shall not apply to Lexington. ••Fourth - We further recommend that not less than two allowance races or handicaps per week shall be offered by each racing association of not le-ss than one mile and a quarter each, after May 15, and all races shall close with for entries. "Fifth — We further recommend that not to ex-ce-e-1 three overnight selling races shall be offered by any association on any one day. "Sixth It is the sense of your committee that in view of the proposed increase in length of races, tie- scale of weights should be increased so that no horse shall carry less than one hundred pounds in handicaps and that the weight shall not be less than seven pounds below the scale-. "We respectfully recommend that the foregoing shall apply to the spring 1916 meetings only anil that, if it meets the approval of your honorable body, that this or a similar committee be- authorised to reconvene after the spring sacc tings to further consider the- subject and make ree oinmonela-tions to your honorable body. "We respectfully suggest for your eonside-ration that the .lockey club be advised of these recommendations anil its co-operation be requested in the- matter of increasing the distances of racing.-
