IMPROVING OUTLOOK IN THE FAR WEST. The initial meeting at Reno last summer under the pari niutui-1 system, controlled by a state racing commission, met with such marked success that Reno folks as well as those from many other section of the west have anxiously awaited the an-n Mincemeat of the dates for the second meeting. Deciding that the total allotment of days would bring even more enjoyment and meet with even greater success if cut two ways, the association has decided to give a spring and fall meeting this year, the early event to begin probably on Saturday. May 27. While there was some feeling in Nevada against the establishing of speculation of the kind in evidence under the new bill, on the part of people unfamiliar with conditions engendered thereby, all. doubts as to the w ledum of the legislation were dissipated by a few days of actual experience. Nevada is on the racing map to stay, and with tin- plant at Tijuana soon to be in operation again and t!c whole state of California in the "receptive Stage," the outlook for the thoroughbred in the west is much rosier than has basal the case at anytime since 1U11. — San Francisco Breeder and Sportsman.
