DIRECTORS HANG ON TO THEIR SPOILS. New Orleans. La.. March 2.1. -The squabble over the "division of the spoils" in the Business Mens Racing Association will be settled in court. Samuel J. Hart, secretary-treasurer. I". J. Virgin and L. M. Moar. directors, declared today that they will reject the demands of the stockholders meeting held last night that they return their slices of the "profit melon" which the directors voted themselves and other recently. At last nights meeting resolutions were adopted expressing confidence in the directors and other officials who did not share in the "melon" and condemning those who accepted the money. Attorneys ReUIy and Sullivan were exempted from the adverse resolutions. When Archibald A. Marx, chairman of the stockholders committee called th • meeting to order, it was announced that John Dillon, rice-president of the association, had sent a check to president Reanysou for the ,450 voted him, stating he did not feel justified in accepting compensation for services n mien d. "luless the court should decide that 1 am wrong. I shall not return the money, feeling I have been only partially compensated for the arduous labors which 1 performed," said secretary treasurer Hart. Me-sis. Virgin anil Moar declared that they considered their services worth more than the amount voted them. J. E. 1earce requested that he be quoted as baring refused to be interviewed. Michael Mi i hellis was absent from his place of business. Tin. mas C. Campbell, one of the members ,,f the board of directors, refuseil to discuss the demand that he return the *880 he received.
