BULSE COVERS A MILE IN FAST TIME. Doctor Moore Also Does Well at the Distance — Breeders Futurity Candidates Gallop Swiftly. Lexington. Ky., April 19. — In preparation for the Kentucky Derby. J. W. Parrishs Bulse. ridden by jockey W. Meehan. this morning worked a mile in 1:41% over the Kentucky Association course for trainer* W. J. Young. In addition to being the fastest mile of the season here, it was the most impressive work by any horse in training thus far seen here. The big chestnut, working alone, went the first quarter in 24%, half in 49% five-eighths in 1:02. three-quarters in 1:15, and seven-eighths in 1:28%. He was going easily and eager to run at the finish of the mile, but was eased up and galloped out the mile and an eighth in 1:55%. Many of those watching the work believe they saw the Derby winner there and then. Dr. Moore, a stable-mate of Bulse and also an eligible to the Derby, worked a mile in 1:43. Getting ready for a move tomorrow. Prince Henry galloped a half in 53. Hank ODay, a Camden Handicap eligible, worked five-eighths in 1:05. Midway, half-brother to Buckhorn, and Sleeper, candidates for the Breeders Futurity, worked a half, the former pulling up in 49 after going three -eighths in 35%. and the latter in 48%. A. L. Kirby has arrived from Hot Springs with Dr. Tuck. Insurgent. Alfadir, Miss Declare and lie-sign. 11. L. Bogers got in with Flitaway and E. B. Elkins brought The Norman. Secretary S. C. Nuckols of the Kentucky State Bacing Commission today said he has received a large number of applications for licenses from traitors and jockeys to be passed upon at the meeting here tomorrow. J. D. Clayton is in receipt of a letter from Henry •McDaniel to the effect that the weather and track conditions at Toronto have been decidedly against training operations ami therefore that horses stabled at Woodbine Iark are not as forward in their work as is desired.
