HORSES GATHERING AT PIMLIC0. Baltimore, Md.. April 25. Preparations for the approaching meeting of the Maryland Jockey Club at Pimlieo. May 1-17. have practically been completed. The track has been thoroughly harrowed, and is now in excellent condition. The steeplechase course has been rolled, and, with fresli brush on the jumps, will be ready for schooling this week. The grounds and buildings have been overhauled, and the clubhouse will be opened on Thursday for the reception of guests under the management of M. A. Dazier. Some of those who have applied for rooms are E. F. Whitney. Charles R. Fleischmann. and T. J. Healey. who will bring down a large, contingent of the R. T. Wilson stable. Among the horses in the Wilson string are Naushon. which has been schooled for steeplechasing; Montresor. Wizard. Tartar. Tralee. Firing Line. Hambala. Night Owl. Straight Forward. Trentino anil Blue Ballot. Math interest is taken in the first appearance of the get of Olambala. The Garths, father and son. have about twenty horses in their barn, among them the steeplechasers Bonny Laddie. Exton and Fakir, that Lewis Garth is handling for E. B. McLean. With the Ral Parr jumpers, Shannon River and Ballybay. to say nothing of others of lesser note, the "sage of Allie-marle" should hold his own in this branch of the sport. At the track are the Glen Riddle Farm horses, about fifteen strong, that wintered at Berlin, on the eastern shore of Maryland, where S. D. Riddle has purchased a farm. Under the care of John F. Yarnall. the veteran Pons Asinonim, Cactus Bud and J. C. Ewalt. spent the winter in fine shape and witli a half dozen or more imported jumpers as companions, the Philadelphia sportsman should have a profitable season. Another recent arrival is J. Howard Lewis with the .1. E. Widener horses, while 6. R. Tompkins arrived ten days ago from Warrenton. with Weld-ship, Juverance, -March Court and several green 1 ones belonging to various owners. Stabl-s already at Pimlieo, in additional to tie-above, include these of R. J. Walden. W. F. Pres-grave. Thomas Clyde. James McLaughlin, E. J. Albright. G. B. Fenwick. F. Ambrose Clark. James ; Arthur. H. Rites and Edward F. Whitney. From 1 Aiken the stables of Thomas Hitchcock and T. J. Donohue are due to arrive Tuesday.
