LEXINGTON GOING BETTER WARM WEATHER IMPROVES THE TRACK AND INDUCES A BIG ATTENDANCE. One Step Wins the Principal Race for Mr. Camden — Auriga Defeats Bedtime Stories and Aunt Liz — Bulse Given a Gallop. Lexington. Ky.. April 29. — Summerlikc weather and a good card of seven races served to attract the biggest crowd of tlie meeting to the Kentucky Association course this afternoon. The track, while still slow, dried rapidly during the afternoon and some excellent sH rt resulted. The Iceland Handicap, one mile and seventy yards, resulted in victory for 3. N. Camdens One Step, which led all the way and won over Water Witch and Grumpy, the latter succumbing in the last stride for second place, due to being guided through the worst going in the stretch. Lady Kotha was expected to be dangerous as her trials had been promising, but after racing prominently to the top of the hill she retired and was eased up in the last eighth. Favorites fared poorly during the afternoon, most of them going down to defeat. The victory of Auriga over Bedtime Stories and Aunt Liz was un-cxitected and the failures of Dr. Carmen and Mars Cassidy in the race won by Solar Star, a well executed "good thing" was also costly to the public. In the opening dash That brought together a dozen maidens. Ardent, which had M well preserved, made good, but her connections were disappointed considerably from the fact that she was grouped in the field with others, which resulted in a shorter price about her. She was ridden by Van Dusen. it l eing his first mount since his bad fall at Hot Springs. Jockey T. Koerner has cancelled his contract with John W. Schorr, giving as a reason for his refusal to ride his increasing weight. He contemplates the purchase of several horses to race. General manager John Hachmeister of the Doug-Ins Iark and Latonia tracks, was a visitor. He was accompanied by Harvey Meyers, president of the Latonia Club. Charles Xolte, superintendent of the Douglas Dark track, came over from Louisville his afternoon. He stated that every available stall at Douglas Dark was taken and that there will be more horses in Kentucky for the racing this year than ever before. C. J. Drockmiller contemplates shipping to New York for the racing there next summer. A. L. Kirbys horses will be shipped to Canada for a campaign on the more important Canadian tracks. Bradley Wilson. representing the Kentucky Thoroughbred Horse Association, will leave here tomorrow for Baltimore to meet with horsemen who will join the association. A meeting will be held in Gentlemens Driving Iark hall, opposite the Pimlico track, on "Tuesday night. J. Hal Woodford suffered the loss of his filly Dreamsome. by Superman — Rallymena. which fell this morning while bring galloped on the track and broke her shoulder. The youngster was highly regarded. Jockey Frank Murphy had a field day and piloted four winners. He inaugurated his success witli Auriga and followed it up witli victories on Solar Star. One Step and Morristown. Immediately after the sixth race trainer W. J. Young brought out the crack Kentucky Derby candidate lSulsc for a mile trial and he engaged the attention of the entire crowd. He was ridden by jockey Median and began at the eighth post in the stretch. His fractions follow: 31%, 4T~., 1:14. 1:42%. He was eased up at a mile and an eighth in l:5K-i-,.
