WOODTRAP began slowly, but responded gamely to punishment and outstayed BALLY. The latter displayed a good order of sjteed in pacemaking, but tired as if short. GALLOP raced into a good lead on the backstretch and was ridden out through the final eighth to withstand IDA CLAIRES challenge. The latter made a game effort in the final eighth, but tired in the closing strides. SARATOGA was saved in the early running and raced wide in the last half mile, but gained slowly at the end. CLIFF HAVEN was under pressure throughout and could never get up. YODELING ran a dull race. The winner was entered for 00; no bid. Scratched — 25970 Stalwart Helen. 102. PULLUX, after racing close up from the start, closed up steadily in the stretch and drew clear in the filial eighth to win easing up. TRUE AS STEEL was high in flesh and i ocketed while rounding the turn, but finished resolutely when clear. PRESUMPTION was shuttled back on the backstretch and finished rapidly under punishment. CY MERRICK showed brilliant early speed nnd the race should improve him. CAUGH HILL and SCHOOLBOY were eased up in the final eighth. The winner was entered for ,200: no bid. BLUE THISTLE closed a gap into forward contention and outstayed SIR WILLIAM JOHNSON when the final drive came. The latter saved much ground for the entire way. GRUMPY came wide when entering the homestn tch. BAC tired after setting the pace for seven-eighths. SUN GOD was in close quarters all the way. VIRILE ran well. SAFE HOME raced gamely, but finished tiring OLD BROOM ran a good race, being on the outside throughout. PINCH, a good looker, tired as if short.
