THE SPIRIT, after racing in close pursuit of the leaders for five-eighths, responded gamely when called on and got up to win in the last few strides. BETWEEN US set the pace and ran a good race in going that was unfavorable. BEN QPINCE closed a big gap and finished with a rush. PHILISTINE and WATER LILY ran well. BONEROS FIRST showed speed, but quit. The winner was entered for 00; no bid. TARAHKUA fraud a fast early pace, but tired in the last sixteenth after racing into the lead. PAN finished with a rush on tile outside after closing a gap. DAMKOSCH raced in close pursuit of the pacemaker to the stretch turn, then moved up rapidly and easily passing his opponents in the last eighth, drew away into a long lead. ACHIEVEMENT was under a drive through the last eighth and stood it gamely. PHIL UNGAR tired after moving up fast on the far turn and taking the lead.
