RAIN AND MUD MAR TORONTO RACING. Two Stake Races Won by J. K. L. Eoss with Yellow Sally and Damrosch — Seagram Wins Again. Toronto. Out., May 22. — The races at Woodbine this afternoon were run under a steady down|M ur and over a muddy track. The change in the going did not produce many scratches. Considering the disagreeable weather, the attendance was surprisingly large. Mr. J. K. L. Boss, whose stable is being managed by Captain W. F. Presgrave. furnished the winners of two of the afternoons features. Yellow Sally taking the Juvenile Stakes, while Damrosch accounted for the Woodstock Plate. Both horses were ridden by McAtee and both won by goodly margins. Joseph E. Seagrams colors were again carried to victory when the Canadian-bred two-year-old Gold Galen won the Goodwood Plate. Water Lily was claimed alter she was beaten. P.. F. Carman taking her from II. G. Bedwell for ,460. Jockey Taplin came on from New York to ride Achievement la the Woodstock Plate. He left immediately after the running of that race. Henrv Waterson. owner of the Mirusol Stable, made his first visit to Woodbine and had the pleasure of seeing his good horse Runes win the Queens Hotel Cup Handicap. Bissell is here with the string of two-•Car-olds he raced at Havana last winter. One of his youngsters, Cadillac, ran a smashing race when he finished third on Saturday to Yellow Sally anil Mae Grass Belle. It is Mr. Bissells intention to race his stable at all of the Canadian tracks this season. A. It. Loudon is enthusiastic over the outlook f r the race meetings to be held by the Hamilton Jockey Club next summer. While in Louisville he was assured by James Bowe that he would send several of Harry Payne Whitneys horses to Hamilton. In fact. Howe entered some of the best in the stakea. He put Bromo in the Hamilton Derby and ltegret. Borrow. Pennant, Chicle and Hansu in some of the other events. Jockey W. Collins, who rode his first winner when he landed the two-year-old Yellow Sally first in the second race Saturday, is a brother to A. Collins, who rode for Capt. W. F. Presgrave last year. Collins gives promise of developing into a skillful rider. He is especially strong for a sin 11 lad. At their meeting on Saturday the stewards of the Canadian Racing Associations grunted jockey G. Gould a license to ride for T. J. Bird only and C. Disiimon a license to ride for F. J. Pons only. Jockey Guy Burns was suspended for the remainder of the meeting for rough riding in the sixth race on Saturday. Mortimer Mahoney was among those who came up from New Yerk to take in the opening days racing. He left for Baltimore yesterday, but will lie back in Canada for the Blue Bonnets meeting at Montreal.
