: i i TORONTO MEETING COMES TO ITS END. Raincoat Victor in the King Edward Hotel Gold Cup— Manokin Wins the Victoria Stakes. Toronto. Ont.. May 27. — The spring meeting of the Ontario Jockey Club was brought to a close with the running of todays program. A high-class card was provided for the occasion, the club 1 adding . C00 to the s«-ven races. C. Straus Bala-coat accounted for the King Edf-.ird Hotel Gold Cup. a one mile and a quarter race, in which he beat Achievement by a nose. Besides ,000 added 1 by the club, a gold cup valued at ,500 went with i this stake. Baincoat was a distant trailer in the early running and came from u long way back. ■ Kunes was a badly beaten third. The Victoria Stakes, for two-year-olds, with 2.500 added, went to Manokin. which beat Yellow Sally by a short bead. The latter was an added I ■tarter and led until in the iiial strides. The Garth Stable won its fifth steeplechase of f the meeting when Idle Michael finished in front in I the Tallyho Steeplechase. He was ridden by W. • Allen, went to the front when called on and won II with speed to spare. 11. ;. Bedwell has obtained first cnll on jockey D. Connelly for the remainder of the Canadian racing " season. Connelly readied Toronto this afternoon and left tonight with the Bedwell stable for Montreal. F. J. Bryan, who has acted as one of the stewards • and also as haudicapper at Woodbine, left 1 tonight for .New York to take up his duties as racing - secretary for the Piping Hock Association. Mr. Bryan will return to Montreal for the Blue Bonnets - m-eting. , Mortimer Mahoney. who has been engaged by the e Coniiaught Park Jockey Club to look after the e mutuel department, left for Ottawa tonight to o arrange details for the coming met ting there. Francis J. Pons announced today that he contemplated - disposing of his stock farm at Madison. i. Tenn.. and also of his band of high-class broodmares. I- Mr. Pons farm is considered one of the e finest in Tennessee. It is located close to the a- Kdenwidd Farm of Messrs. Hemlrie and Parmer.
