CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. The Brookdah- Stable horses will go to Coniiaught Park from Woodbine. The attendaii-e at the Belmont Park opening was estimated at over 20,000. When the last mail left there had been no resumption of racing in Ireland, following the recent disturbances. George C. Bennett of Memphis is enjoying the racing at Belmont Park, lie now owns only four broodmares, and they are in Kentucky. W. K. Vanderbilt is planning to race a strong dixision of his Frencli-bred stable in Spain this season, with W. B. Duke as trainer and Frank ONeill as jockey. The five-year-old bay horse Lough Foyle, by Lochryan — Cannera, has arrived from England and has joined the stable of Edward B. McLean of Washington. He is a good juniper and won the Coolock Steeplechase of three miles at Baldoyle, Ireland, March 18. The substitute for the Epsom Derby, the New Derby, will be run at Newmarket next Wednesday. The New Oaks will be run Friday. Frank ONeill has been, according to a npaft, engaged to ride John San fords Nassovian in the Derby, a circumstance that gives the colt the aid of the most accomplished rider in Europe. S|»-ar. who rode him in the Two Thousand, is not a bad rider, but does not compare with ONeill. That the latter has lH-en engaged conveys the conviction that Nassovian has gone on in the right way since running third for the Two Thousand Guineas. If he wins, Mr. Sauford will have established uu international record aB a winner of Derbya.
