Montreal, Que., June 10. — The Montreal Jockey Club today offered what was considered the best program provided at the meeting and. as a result, a tremendous gathering turned out at Blue Bon-nets. This. too, despite unpleasant weather. Threatening clouds hung over the course all afternoon while the going was deep and heavy. Goth feature races, the Windsor Hotel" Cup and the Prince- of Wales Stee-plee-hase. furnished good contests. The- Mirisol Stable provided the win ne r of the Windsor Hotel Cup in Runes, which showed a high-class performance. He- made all the pace- and for seven -e-ighths forced Sands of Pl.-asure along at a rate that made the latter cpiit. When Sands of Pleasure retired. Metealf brought up the f.-vorite. Achievement, and, overtaking Runes on the stretch turn, the two fought it out to the one]. Riine-s proved the gamer and scored by a nock. In his previous effort Ruin-s was iH-aten off. It was said that he met with some interference at the start, but at that he was neve-r able to improve his position. Sun King proved best of the half-dozen jumpers that went to the post ill the Prime* of Wale* Steeplechase. He was ridden by Fred Williams followed the othe-rs until in the last half, then ] moved into an easy lead am! at the eml was under restraint. A letter from Hot Springs brings the news that the recent tornado that swept through Arkansas played havoc- with the Oaklawn rae-e e-onrse, A majority of the stable-s were unroofed, the car shed behind the stand was demolished and the paddock wrecked. Most of the gltss in the grandstand was broken and considerable damage was done to other parts of the- plant. Sam Louis, who claimed the two-year-old Cadillac from G. W. J. Manokins victory in the see-ond race on Friday marked the- ninth race that this colt has won since he first faced the hotter in January. In his twe-nty-two starts he has been out of the money but four tinie-s. He is ■ gift colt, having been presentcel to H. C. Beclwell by Thomas Civile. Lewis iartli. who is training one of the largest strings racing on the Canadian circuit, plans a trip to Kiclanil in-xt month to attend fTie yearling sah-s.
