CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. J : Frank Kearns has arrived at Jamaica with Belle of the Kitchen, Sniffy Allen and four other racers. S. C. Hildreth reports that the Belmont horses are recovering from the epidemic of coughing with which they recently were afflicted. Sixteen of Mrs. L. A. Livingstons thoroughbreds have been shipi»ed from Rancocas Stock Farm, New Jersey, to Hamilton in charge of Matt Feakes. John E. Madden has sent a couple of two-year-olds to ML Jacobson at Tijuana, where they will lie raced. One is by Ogden, the other by Star Shoot. George Alexandra has arrived at Jamaica from Baltimore with Tiajan and other horses. A. H. Vivell is also an arrival at Jamaica from the same place. The sheriffs of Alameda and San Francisco counties in California occupied President Coffroths box at the Tijuana track one day recently and liked the s|H»rt so well that they remained over for several days. The Wickliffe Stable has retired to the stud Ghetto Girl, b. f. 4, by Ben Brush — Debacle, und hus shipped her to Kentucky. This filly was well thought of as a three-year-old, but she had accomplished nothing of late. Ill luck has followed the Brookdnle Stable of the Messrs. Dymeiit of late years in the breeding department. Of this seasons foals only one survived, that being by Tippecanoe out of the Sir Dixon mare Minuewaska. a small representation from fiftee-n broodmares and three sires. Mrs. H. B. Duryeas seventeen imported French-bred yearlings from the Haras du Gazon. France, are still stableel at Sheepshead Bay. and they will, in all probability, remain there until shipped to Saratoga. These yearlings were catalogued to be sold with the older Dnryea thoroughbreds at Belmont Park, May 27. but at that time some of them had distemper, while others were just recovering from the ailment, and none of them was in sale condition. Phil T. Chinn has shipped the six -year-old black horse. Black Pine, by Rock Sand, out of Black Poplar, and the two-year-old fillv Swiftfoot. by Thrush — Abbotts Anno, to J. S. Barbees Glen Helen Stock Farm, near Lexington. Ky. As previously announced. Black Pine has been retired to the stud while still sound and fit to raee, because of his rich breeding and fine individuality. He was bought for a syndicate of horse breeelers, of which Chinn is manager. The two-year-old is owned jointly by Chinn and Oscar Lowisohn. Martin Nathanson. who is to be presiding judge at Maisonneuve, where racing will open June 14, has arrived in Montreal to get things in readiness for the opening. The stalls at the course are all in good shape and ready for the reception of the horses, which will be shipped from Delorimier Park at once. While in Montreal Mr. Nathanson, who is to be racing secretary at the revival of racing in Chicago next month, will look after the interests of the Chicago meeting. Racing will be commenced at Hawthorne track on Saturday, July 15. and continue up to and including July 29. On his arrival Mr. Nathanson completed arrangements with James Milton to do the starting at Hawthorne. • 1 r I I
