CURRENT NOTES OF THE TTJRF. Former Lieutenant-Governor Horace White was one of the visitors at Belmont Park Saturday. He expressed himself as pleased at the big crowd, which showed that racing has regained its hold on the New York public. There is t ilk of a three-day amateur race meeting at Sheepshead Bay in late July or early August over a steeplechase course to be laid out in the infield. The main track at Sheepshead Bay has been converted into a motordrome. Stake dates at Latonia have been assigned as follows: Inaugural Handicap. June 14; Latonia Derby. June 17; Tipsetta Stakes, June 21; Merchants Selling Stakes, June 24; Harold Stakes, June 28; Quickstep Handicap. July 1; Independence Handicap. July 4; Cincinnati Trophy, July S; Valuation Selling Stakes. July 11. Trainer Wayne Lewis, who litis lieen racing Saratoga in the east, has arrived at I.atonia to spend a week at more on his way to the Canadian circuit. He desires to pick up a bans or two and these he will probably buy this week. If he can secure anything good enough at a moderately fair price that he thinks can win at Hamilton. Fort Erie and Windsor, he will secure them. Lewis was for a long time in charge of turfman G. W. J. Bissolls stable. L. J. Carey, who is manager of the Beverwyck Stable, owned by Frank Nolan of Saratoga, has brought the western division of the Beverwyck thir-oughhreds to P.elniont Fark. There are nine in all. ami this number includes Lena Misha. Old Koenig, Top o the Wave. Dreadiiaught. Faraway. Ima Frank. Henry Jr.. Alone at Last and Sir John Johnson. The two-year-olds in the racing division are lop o the Wave. Dreadiiaught. Faraway. Ima Frank and Alone at Last. The stable has but two three-year-olds in active training. They are Old Koenig and Henry Jr.
