FORT ERIE STAKES SPLENDIDLY FILLED. Stakes books for the two seven-day meetings at the Fort Erie race track, under tiie auspices of the Niagara Racing Association, have been issued. Four dosed events will be run during the first meeting, July 4-11. and three will be decided during the second" gathering. August ," -12. Stakes to be run at the first meeting are: Fourth of July Stakes, a handicap for three-year-olds and over. ,500 added: Niagara Stakes, two-year-olds. ,500 added: Canadian Derby, three-year-olds, ,500 added: the Fort Erie Stakes, for three -year -olds and over, ,500 added. Features to be decided at the second meeting include the Dominion Handicap- three-year-olds and over. ,000 added; Iroquois Hotel Stakes. five and a half furlongs. ,500 added, and the Edward W. Maginn Memorial Handicap, mile and a sixteenth. ,500 added. The nomination list for the feature events to be run at the Fort Erie meetings includes the names of a majority of the prominent stables racing today. For the Canadian Deny George M. Hendrie, James Battel, Mrs. L. A. Livingston. J. S. Tyree, H. P. Whitney. F. J. Pons, W. L. Oliver, T. P. Hayes. James Arthur and others have made nominations. The Fourth of July Stakes, one mile and seventy yards, will be run on the opening day at Fort Erie. The unheard of number of forty -eight eligibles for this race indicates that a big field will start.
